POLICY
Business Hours: My business hours are Monday-Friday from 12-8pm. This is the time that lessons and make ups are held, primarily. This is the time that I will communicate back with parents and students as well. Make ups will not be held during breaks. I will also not be reachable during vacation breaks. Please only contact me during these hours unless it’s a Sunday and you need to notify me of a cancellation for Monday.

Payment: Lessons are $140 per month, per one 30 minute session a week. A student’s lesson falls on the same day and time every week, online or in person. Split payments will not be permitted. Monthly payment pays for a student’s individual time slot, instruction, preparation, recital and competition planning, and much more. I take payment via zelle's automated system primarily. Payment is due on the first of every month. If payment hasn’t been received by the 8th of the month, the students time slot becomes open for someone else. Monthly tuition MAY increase yearly/adjusted to inflation (with 30 days notice). Monthly payment is the same every month regardless of if a student shows up for a lesson or not.
Upon signing up for lessons, a sign up fee of $100 is to be collected. This payment can span over the next 2 months if needed and covers a termination fee and starting materials.
I will not "hold" a lesson time slot if it hasn’t been paid for. After a meet and greet, the desired time slot is only held for 24 hours. After that point, the time slot is open for another student.

Make up lessons: In order for a make-up lesson to take place, I need at least a 1-2 day notice prior to their lesson. Make ups are not guaranteed. If there are no slots available that will work with both of our schedules, I can send videos for the student to look to for practice for that week upon request. I will put the student on my reschedule list and when a time opens, I will let you know. If a student is sick or cannot make it to the studio, an online lesson is available during their lesson time.
I will not make up a lesson if the student is a no show or if 24 hour notice is not given under any circumstances. I will not refund missed lessons or a cancelled lesson. There are also no refunds if you decide to quit lessons and paid for the month. The only scenario that a refund lesson might be offered is if the teacher has a catastrophic event and must cancel class without giving a 24 hour notice.
On the rare occasion that I need to reschedule a lesson, an appropriate agreement will be made whether that is a make up that agrees with both schedules or instructional videos sent out.
If tardiness exceeds 10 minutes without prior notification, I will leave the online call or leave my office and the lesson will be forfeited.
If a student has injured a hand, they will still have plenty to work on and are still able to have lessons. Additional make ups will not be given in this scenario.
Recitals: There are about 2 studio recitals per year and students are encouraged to perform. Most adult students don't care to perform...this is ok ! If a student doesn't feel ready to perform, they are encouraged to attend the recital to watch others play...this usually makes students feel inspired for the next opportunity to participate. There will also be various festivals and competitions available for students to participate in as well. Students are expected to be in semi-formal attire for performances.

Fifth weeks: Payment covers the first 4 weeks in a month. Lessons will still be held on the fifth week on the months that have them. These lessons carry over for breaks. For this reason, payment is the same every month even if there is a fifth week lesson or a break in that month. If a student terminates lessons, the fifth week they had in advance must be paid. If a new student does not have enough fifth week lessons banked for an upcoming break, we can either reschedule that missed lesson, or that lesson(s) can be deducted from that month.

Materials: Students will need a full length, 88 weighted key keyboard or a piano in order to take lessons. If a student has another house that they split time with, a piano or keyboard must also be available at that household.

Vacations: Rescheduling lessons for a couple weeks is a non issue. If you choose to leave lesson for a long vacation or something of the sort, and don't have payment secured or an arrangement of make ups, the lesson slot may not be there once you return. I con't hold a lesson time if it is not payed for.

Illness: If you are sick, do not come into the studio. Let me know before the lesson and we can have a lesson via zoom during their lesson time or I can send instructional videos in place of their lesson. If you or a student comes to the studio sick, you will be asked to leave without a reschedule.

Termination of lessons or "taking a break" from lessons: If there is ever an issue, please communicate with me and I will do my best to meet your needs. Otherwise, students must give 30 day notice to discontinue lessons. If 30 day notice is not given, a cancellation fee of $60 is due. This also goes for "taking a break" from lessons. (student's that have paid a last months fee at sign up are exempt of the cancellation fee).
